  • Are YOU The Next Mrs. Montgomery County?
    Posted on: 2011-08-14
Have you always wanted to make a difference in your community, but didn’t know where to start? All around Texas, women are finding that a crown can serve as a “megaphone” to promote a cause or issue.

If you are married and will be between the ages of 21 and 56 as of July 1, 2012, applications are now being accepted for the title of 2012 “Mrs. Montgomery County”! Mrs. Montgomery County will have the honor of representing her area at the Mrs. Texas International Pageant to be held at the Selena Auditorium in Corpus Christi, Texas, April 27 – 29, 2012.

The woman selected as “Mrs. Montgomery County” will become an ambassador from the ---- Montgomery County ---- area and receive an official title and sash!

The woman crowned Mrs. Texas International will receive a prize package valued at over $20,000 and the opportunity to represent Texas at the 2012 Mrs. International Pageant in Chicago.

The American Heart Association is the official charity of the Mrs. Texas International Pageant. In 2008, the International Pageants joined the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement and each state titleholder will champion heart disease as a national platform in addition to promoting their own platform throughout the year.

Go Red for Women captures the energy, passion, and intelligence of women, to work collectively to wipe out heart disease – the No. 1 killer of women. While 1-in-30 American women die of breast cancer, almost 1-in-3 will die from cardiovascular disease. Our passion is to unite women in this fight. Our involvement in the movement can help save lives. For more information go to www.GoRedForWomen.org.

The current reigning “2011” Mrs. Texas is Angelique Hoover of Houston, Texas. Angelique and her husband, Kenny, have been married for nine years. Together, they have one little boy: Zander. Angelique has dedicated her reign, as Mrs. Texas, to the Look Good…Feel Better Program: a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the self-esteem and quality of life for people undergoing treatment for cancer. This brand-neutral public service program teaches beauty techniques to cancer patients to help them manage the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. Look Good…Feel Better has serviced over 700,000 women nationwide, since its inception in 1989. “Some time ago, one of my close friends was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer” says Hoover. “She immediately had surgery and began chemotherapy and experienced the typical reactions: loss of hair and eyebrows. How she looked really impacted how she felt. It was her experience led me to the Look Good…Feel Better program. As a licensed cosmetologist, I was able to become trained as a Look Good…Feel Better instructor. Now, I teach classes and help cancer patients to fell beautiful on the inside and out.” For more information on the Look Good…Feel Better Program, visit: www.lookgoodfeelbetter.org.

Mrs. contestants will compete in Interview, Fitness Wear, and Evening Gown. (There is no talent or swimsuit competition and NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!!!)
